When I was younger, I dreamed of becoming a NASA scientist. I read everything and anything about astronomy. So I believe that I can answer your question quite authoritatively.

Jupiter is made of gas. There are no hard surfaces to walk on. It doesn't dissipate or go away because of gravity. Due to its m* and size, Jupiter has enormous gravity. It is what keeps the planet together. If it doesn't have gravity, the planet would have been gone a long time ago.
