HDMI specification
« on: September 17, 2013, 12:56:55 AM »
Cables are unable to be tested against HDMI spec, so HDMI Licensing LLC declares them as unlicensed.

The road to convergence between A/V and IT just hit a bump.

According to TechRadar, millions and millions of Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI cables, sold by manufacturers such as Apple, Toshiba, Dell and HP, are unlicensed and do not meet the HDMI specification.

TechRadar cites HDMI Licensing LLC as saying that since the cable only has one HDMI connector, it does not meet the specification, which calls for connectors on both ends. Therefore, the cable itself cannot be tested to see if it conforms to the HDMI spec.

Cables with one Mini Display connector and a "female" HDMI connector conform to the spec.

yeah ......

I read this all over the web. So many companies made all kinds different HDMI cables to adapt to different connects. The problem is they did not stay within the HDMI specs and a lot of cables being sold are failing after a few years. So although they are cheap they don't last long but it's also no big deal to buy another. Anyways a lot of people are getting ripped off. And they are trying to get everyone up to code and with the right specs. There is a lot to this not just people being *s and saying you don't meet our standards these cables you sell are illegal.
