Hi I am Kendra! I just want to ask what’s the main difference between Owls and Tawny Frogmouth? Does Tawny Frogmouth belong to Owl family?

Tawny Frogmouths typically wait for their prey to approach to them, only hardly ever hunting on the wing like owls. They also have quite weak feet since they use their beaks to grasp their prey. While, Owls eat small mammals, like mice and rats, so their frames are shorter and stronger than those of Tawny Frogmouths which typically hunt smaller prey.

Owls’ feet are much stronger than the feet of the Tawny Frogmouth as owls use their feet to catch their prey. Owls are also able to move back and forth one of their toes around to the back for they have very flexible joints to get a better grip on their prey. As, Tawny Frogmouths legs are weaker than owls’.
