Do you really need to get car rental insurance if you are going to be renting a car for any period of time? I've heard that your regular car insurance will cover you with a rental but just wondered if you think it best to get some?

I think as long as you have decent auto insurance on your own car you shouldn't need it but of course they will try and sell it to you. We've never purchased it but you should check with who you have your present insurance with to make sure you will be covered.

They do ask if you want to use your own.  Most people have their own cars and insurance, so it is an expense you can save.
