What is a Fender Telecaster???

My boyfriend is a guitarist in their all male band and I heard them talking about Fender Telecaster. He said he needed it. What is this?

A fender guitar has been a big seller for over 50 years. The Fender Telecaster was the first big seller and I guess that this type of electric guitar was used on more Country Music Recordings in the 60s than any other Guitar.
