How did Hawaii become part of the US? It is quite far from the mainland and is quite in the Middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Hawaii was not originally a part of the US although there are military bases there as early as 1887. It only became a state of the US in August 1959. Due to its strategic location in the mid-Pacific Ocean and also after the World War 2 experience of the US, the US finally adopted it as a state and became the youngest state in the country.

Based on my research, it was sort of an invasion. Our country took over most of Hawaii for its sugar cane productions but not with a military force but with land buyers and used the locals there to farm for them. Eventually the locals tried revolting against the United States and I believe some troops were sent to secure it.
