Question about the difference of gross sale and net sale

Can you help me with my *ignment? What is the difference between a gross sale and a net sale?

Lucky you! I am a business management graduate and I do have my own business. Well, to answer your question, a gross sale is whatever the sales of the company. You don't deduct the cost of good sold or the expenses *ociated with the sales.

To get your net sales, you deduct the cost of goods sold, the rent, salary and other expenses.

Can somebody explain to me, how do you calculate sales tax using gross sales? I'm really con*sed.
