California has some of the best beaches in the country and I'm sure you'll find many places to choose from. There's Malibu beach, Santa Barbara beaches, and Catalina Island beaches in southern California. You can find many other good vacation beaches in other parts of California in this site: http://www.californiatraveldreams.com/Beaches.htm.

I really think it would depend on how much your budget is. If you have enough money, I would suggest that you go to Fiji or to South East Asia. There are so many great beaches there.

I particularly like the beaches in Coron, Palawan - an island in the Philippines. They have pristine blue beaches, powdery white sand and friendly locals. They also have few people visiting the place.
