Do you think someone can really make a living investing his money on stocks or others? Can he live on the profit he gets from his investment, without having another source of income?

I don't know if you could or not. I would say if you had enough capital to cover any losses, you may be able to do it. But, you would have to be knowledgeable enough about investments to know when to stop pouring money into an investment that wasn't working.

I'm *uming that you're not talking about people who are rich already, they can clearly do this. Beyond the rich, I'm sure there are some people who make a living from their investments. I bet many more have tried and failed though. I would compare it to trying to succeed at something very competitive, like playing poker professionally. You have to be extremely good at what you are doing, and have a lot of discipline. These careers are possible for a few exceptional people, but they're too difficult for most to succeed at.

I agree with OscarG - it takes quite a bit of money to make a decent enough profit off the investment, so you have to have a lot in to get enough back to live on.

I remember when technology stocks were going crazy several years ago, some friends of mine made tons of money really fast. When the economy is exceptionally good like that, then I think you can make a living from your investments. I bet it's been much more difficult recently though.

I've known 2 people to make a decent amount from their investments but they also put a lot of money into the market. I think it depends on a number of factors but it's possible to make it worth trying.

I believe you can make a living investing on stocks. At least, it works for some people like, well, Warren Buffett. But you must have sufficient knowledge in this field and any other resources it takes to be success*l in this business.
