New Trucks for Sale / Ford F-150
« on: November 09, 2013, 06:02:04 PM »
Do you think the Ford has improved on the *el consumption of the F-150? I would love to buy their new truck; however, just thinking about the *el consumption is making me think twice.

Non-Fiction / Biographies

What do you think about auto-biographies written by "ghost writers?" How would we know if an auto-biography is written by a "ghost writer?"

New SUV's for Sale / Santa Fe or Chevy Equinox

We are planning to buy a new SUV, however, we are torn between choosing a South Korean-made Hyundai Santa Fe or an American-brand Chevy Equinox. What do you suggest guys?

Management / Re: Salary raise
« on: November 09, 2013, 05:56:18 PM »
I think the best way to tell them that you can't afford the raise is to show them your income and expense report. This will give them a proper perspective of the company's financial position.

If they still insist on asking for a raise, then tell them that you might let go some of their colleagues to satisfy the people asking for a raise.

Management / Re: Morale

Employees should know that memos and suspensions are given out because of particular reasons and not just because of some arbitrary and flimsy excuse.

Employee morale is low because you might not have been giving them a reason to celebrate. If you are meting out punishments and disciplinary actions, I think you should also give out awards and recognition to employees who are doing good.

Presentation / Re: Power attire

If you will be making a presentation, the attire you choose will make a huge difference whether your audience will listen to you or not.

I think what you mentioned is your power attire. It works well if you are comfortable wearing those things. If you are not comfortable, then practice wearing them. It will help you in the long run. Power attire helps in making you more credible to your audience. If you are credible, they will be receptive to your ideas.

Presentation / Re: Advice

The best advice I can give is to know what you will be talking about. When you know what you are going to say, you will not only make a very good presentation, it will only show to the client that you respect his time, the most important thing for a client.

Then learn how to talk with him, rather than talking to him. This can make a huge difference whether you will close the deal or not.

Presentation / Re: Public speakers

There are a couple of public speakers and leaders I do admire; chief among them is Obama. He is a very gifted public speaker and a very good author (*uming that he didn't have a ghost).

I also like how John Maxwell writes and talks in his seminars. He knows how to engage his listeners. He can share his message without sounding too preachy.
