RE: Extension Cords

What is the standard size for wires used in extension cords? I am planning to make my own extension outlet as the wires in the one I bought at the hardware burned out as it is obviously sub-standard. What can I do?

I would suggest that you talk to a qualified electrician and talk to him about the load on the wires you will use.

If you will load an equipment or appliances that has high resistance or ohms, the wires will get burned. Even if you buy a quality extension cord but the capacity is beyond what you are using it for, the cord will burn again.

Have the electrician check out your wiring first.
